Baby Locks and Socket Protectors – FREE
September 7, 2008 on 11:52 am | In Uncategorized | No CommentsOK, I’ll admit it. A lot of the stuff listed here has been crap. Of course, I warned you of that in the beginning.
Well, here is something you can actually use, O people who have kids (this means you). Here are some thing-a-ma-bobbers you can use to lock your cabinet doors and cover your sockets so your kids don’t get zapped.
These babys really work. I have raised 4 kids past the age of why-don’t-I-stick-this-screwdriver-in-that-hole-to-see-what-it-does age. And the cabinet locks keep your kids out too.
Say the word, and these bad boys can be yours.

Welcome to gBay!
September 2, 2008 on 11:32 am | In Uncategorized | 2 CommentsSome of you may remember Gary Gear™, my periodic exercise many years ago that proved that one person’s trash is another person’s treasure. This is sort of like that, meaning I have a bunch of stuff I want to get rid of.
Welcome to gBay, home of Gary’s Garage Sale. I have a bunch of crap treasures that I need to get rid of pass on to others, and I thought I’d try this. If you’re familiar with any of those deal-a-day websites, this is just like that. Except most of my deals are free, and I don’t promise one every day. Sometimes there will be several, other times we might go a week or so without a new bargain.
Here’s how it works: Occasionally, I’m going to post something new to this blog, usually with pictures. The title of the listing shows the price. Most are “FREE”. Free means means you have to pay your gas to come get the thing, or arrange to have it picked up.
If something sits around for awhile and nobody wants it, or I get tired of it around the house, then I am either going to relist the item on eBay or Craigslist (if I’m so inclined), or haul it to DI (if I’m lazy).
Now, you may be wondering if there are strings attached. My dear relatives, rest easy knowing that no strings are attached to this stuff. If you take it, it’s yours. No takebacks. If you decide later to give it to a friend (or an enemy), go right ahead. Wait, I just thought of a string. Somebody I know has to pick up the item. I don’t want strangers coming by my house, ’cause my mom always taught me not to talk to strangers.
If you’re thinking, “hey, why didn’t I think of this? I have crap treasures too!!”, well think no more. Today is your lucky day. Let me know and I’ll give you an account on gBay and you can also get rid of your junk offer your treasures to relatives. The only restriction is you have to abide by the above no-strings rule.
One final thing, let me point out that you might find an RSS feed useful here, just in case I happen to add something cool, so you can score it first. The RSS feed is: feed://www.ashcraft.org/gbay/?feed=rss2
Art Deco-ish Table – GONE
September 1, 2008 on 11:09 pm | In Uncategorized | No CommentsTook it to DI. Now someone else gets to refinish it.
I bought this cool table some years ago (ok, lots of years ago) at a thrift store somewhere in the Salt Lake Valley. I’ve always liked the Art Deco-ish accents on the legs. For a long time I had it in the basement, first to use as a table for my scanner, later as a table for our Big Copier.
The table slides open in the middle, kind of. It looks like there once was an expansion leaf that went in the middle, but I never had one.
Jenny started to refinish it once, but the project never got beyond sanding one end of the top.
This table is about 29 1/2″ high.
If you want this table for your next project, add a comment and tell me you want it. First come, first serve. Oh, and you have to get it out of my place within the next two weeks. That’s the deal.
Treadmill – FREE
September 1, 2008 on 11:08 pm | In Uncategorized | No CommentsThis big, heavy treadmill is a tank. Not like those lightweight, girly treadmills you see at your local Dollar Store.
We bought this monster about 15 years ago. It lived in our bedroom for awhile, then was demoted to the basement.
It has a slope adjustment, so you can make it feel like you’re going up a hill.
Did I say this sucker is heavy? When you come get it, bring someone strong.
Fall is here, snow is coming soon. If you want this treadmill for your next winter’s workouts, add a comment and tell me you want it. First come, first serve. Oh, and you have to get it out of my place within the next two weeks. That’s the deal.
Yes, I photoshopped this photo so you don’t have to see all the junk in my basement.
Big Copier – GONE
September 1, 2008 on 11:06 pm | In Uncategorized | No CommentsTook to DI, where it’ll either be fixed or end up in the dumpster in the back.
We got this big copier from some neighbors a year or so ago when they got a new one. It worked great at first, but now there are some streaks on the printouts that have gotten worse.
So consider this one a “handyman’s” (handyperson’s?) special. Might be easy to fix, might not, but hey… the price is right.
If you’ve been reading this, thinking, “hey, I LOVE big copiers!” then this one is for you. Just add a comment and tell me you want it. First come, first serve. Oh, and you have to get it out of my place within the next two weeks. That’s the deal.
